happy birthday round up Weekly Round Up Happy Birthday Edition

Saturday, the 24th of January, marks my 31st year on this earth.  Geez, what happened to 30?   I don’t feel much older because I’m really not celebrating my birthday.  Shhhh….Don’t tell anybody.  Maybe if I don’t celebrate it, then I really won’t get older?  Yeah, right.  Nice try.  After the big 3-0, I don’t expect much difference on the rest of the birthday celebrations until the 40.  Okay, don’t even want to mention that number again.  Moving on to this week in the blogoshpere.

Guest Posts

Had a couple guest posts out there this week.  First stop was My Super Charged Life ran by Jeff (nice name).  If your looking for great motivational tips and plans of action, you need to check out his blog.  My contribution was “Four things that are making you poor” and what you can do to change them.

Next stop was Consumerism Commentary.  Flexo runs this well established blog that covers everything and I mean everything when it comes to personal finance and investing.  I added my two cents on how our tarp money is being put to good use.  Yes, there is some sarcasm there.  Curious? You’ll have to click to find out.

Good Reads

  • Interest rates are at historic lows (again) and if feasible, it makes a great time to refinance at a low fixed rate.  Pete from Bible Money Matters shares his personal story of refinancing his home.  The best part is how he actually found his mortage banker.  I’ll give you a hint: Tweet! Tweet!
  • Most of us are familiar with Identity Theft.  Taking it to the next level is the concept of Synthetic Identity Theft that Jim from Bargaineering (formely Blueprint of Financial Prosperity) covers in great depth.
  • Most everybody read about my steak chili recipe that I discovered at Gen X Finance.  Looks like my buddy Jeremy is going to start offering frugal cooking tips/recipes over there.  If they are anything like the chili, then count me in!  This week he offers how to prepare a salad that will last you a week. Not only frugal, but it may also keep you on track with your fitness goals for the new year.

Also in the reader….

  • Simple Organized Life. Dave from The Good Human just launched a new website about simple living. Everybody I know can use a little simplification in their life.
