Are you one of the extreme coupon people? You know the ones that will get $500 worth of goods for $40? Well, I’m not but that doesn’t mean that I don’t like to save a buck here and there. Here’s my latest “good financial tip” for you regarding coupons. Enjoy!

Transcription follows below….

This is Jeff Rose, Good Financial Cents, with another great and helpful good financial tip for you.  I actually can’t take credit for this tip because it is something that my wife introduced to me.

A little quick back story about myself; I am weird when it comes to coupons, or at least I was as in past tense.  The thing about coupons, I always just felt weird, I felt cheap, I just never really utilized it.  Introducing my wife who is the queen at finding coupons for everything whether we’re going to a store, buying something online, she can always find a coupon.  We’re not just talking $5 off coupons or buy one cheeseburger, get the second one free, which is still a very good coupon by the way.  No, we’re talking about save 10%, save 20%, save 30%, just save a lot of money, and it’s so simple.

So my good financial tip for you is that before you embark and actually go and buy something, go online and do a quick search for that store or that product and see if you can find a coupon.  Just recently I was actually having to buy something online and before I pressed the buy now or purchase button, I thought you know what, let me just go ahead and do a quick little search to see what’s out there.

The first search I found a 15% off coupon.  It literally took me all of 45 seconds to find it.  I thought you know what, let me just do another quick search and make sure there is not another coupon out there, and sure enough I found one for 30% off. I think the item I was going to buy was roughly about $100 or so.  By spending an extra 2-2-1/2 minutes and copying and pasting the coupon code into the coupon box on the site that I was ordering on, I saved $30, just like that.  That was the easiest $30 that I saved just because I went and Googled for that coupon.

That is my good financial tip for you.  If you’re getting ready to make a quick purchase, take a minute or two and do a search for a coupon.  I promise you that most likely you’re going to save a quick buck.  This is Jeff Rose, Good Financial Cents, with another great and helpful good financial tip for you.
